This course helps the students to examine the different foundations of education. The course will explore the underlying principles of education and the nature of knowledge, how classical, modern and post modern theories of education have impacted the educational curricula,pedagogy, academic freedom and research. the course will consider the roots,tension and controversies surrounding the democratic character of Philippine Education, especially as it relates to meritocratic and egalitarian principles.
